I love this recipe! I’m wondering why the fat content is so high? It only has a tablespoon of oil to cook the onion in, and you are using chicken breasts, which usually have 4-5 gr. of fat per serving. Can you please explain?

I cook the dried black beans boil 2 minutes. Let cool
Change water. Cook til just tender. Otherwise this fine. I did make it with a costco chicken and plan to do it this week. It freezes perfectly and is a wonderful lunch, especially on these cold nj days. Like most experienced cooks I add a few embellishments, but a beginner would be proud to serve this as is. Fage yogurt,5% is as good as sour cream.

I just wanted to thank you for this recipe! It is surprisingly easy and delicious! We tripled the recipe and it was still perfect. I added pinto beans along with the black beans because that’s what I had (but could add kidney beans as well). I also added a sweet potato peeled cut up and it was great in this!
Truly, THANK YOU for a wonderful addition to our rotation and a fun dish to serve to guests with lots of toppings to add on 🙂

I think this is the perfect base recipe! If you love your chili savoury with no spice then this is the perfect recipe for you! I however love a bit of spice with my chili so here’s the additions I made:
1 tsp cayenne pepper, 1 tsp paprika, 1 jalapeño, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tsp brown sugar and a couple splash’s of Worcestershire. The brown sugar just adds a touch of flavour but helps with the acidity. I promise it doesn’t make this sweet! And I am in no way trying to change your recipe! Like I said, this is the perfect base for a savoury chilli 🙂

Good base recipe, but needs much more seasoning in my opinion. Paprika, cayenne pepper, 1/2 can of diced green chiles or rotel). I also used 1 can of chili beans + 1/2 of black beans. I also recommend to simmer everything for at least 1-2 hours or use a crockpot for all the flavors to integrate.
